Private R. Mooney

 

The background of this man is not known at present.

R. Mooney enlisted in the North Irish Horse at Belfast on 29 April 1918 (Corps of Hussars No.72087). He was described as being 5' 3¾" tall, with a sallow complexion, hair turing grey, and grey eyes. He stated that he was 35 years old, was born in Shankill, and was employed as a seaman.

Mooney was reported to have deserted from the regiment's reserve base at Antrim on 4 May 1918. It is not known if he was subsequentially apprehended.
